About

My name is Shenyue Ding, the maker/one-woman show behind supper ceramics.

The name supper is a nod to my northern roots, and brings feelings of comfort, home and shared moments. Google defines it as "an evening meal, typically a light or informal one", or my personal favourite "a meal consisting of the specified food with chips e.g. a fish supper". Perfection.

I make pottery by hand in a studio in east London. Most of my pieces are thrown on the wheel, an art that I think will keep me fascinated and constantly learning for years to come.

I am strangely attracted to the slow multi step process of making pots, which, depending on number of mysterious factors (like the weather, the kiln gods etc.), means that it takes ~4-6 weeks for each piece from start to finish.

In a world full of mass-produced Ikea uniformity, my main goal is to create unique items that will be treasured in your home, and in the homes of your friends and loved ones.
